How We Tested and Results

To test the read and write performance of the TS Mini, we used an automated script to copy files and measure the time taken. Files were copied to a shared folder on the TS Mini from a RAM disk, rather than from the test PC's hard disk, to ensure that file transfer speeds weren't limited by the test PC. Both the test PC and the TS Mini were connected via a Gigabit Ethernet router.

In the large file test, we copied a 100MB file to and from the TS Mini 100 times. This shows how the device copes with big files such as videos. In the small file test, a selection of tiny files (none larger than a few hundred KB) totalling 100MB was copied to and from the TS Mini 100 times. This shows how will it copes when used to store a system backup, compressed photos or office files.
